Your website can start making money on Google in several different ways.
Let’s say you’ve got a great website, lots of viewers, and absolutely no clue how that’s supposed to help you financially. Your site isn’t designed to sell anything; it’s just awesome. Google does have a program that can potentially convert online popularity into online revenue. It’s called AdSense. This program essentially means that you’re renting your free space to Google (and, by connection, to Google’s clients.)

By placing related ads onto your website, Google can increase the advertising it offers to its clients, and thus increase the money it makes from these clients. That increase in funds allows Google to pay you for your trouble, so you get a payment every time an ad is clicked that was posted on your site. It means that you, Google, and Google’s client all make money from that ad. The only person who isn’t making money from the deal is the customer – who gets whatever product or service they were originally searching for. Winning deal? I think so.
